Data for the People

We love a good partnership, and this is definitely one! We are pleased and honored to be involved in a new project launched by RockEdu of Rockefeller University to help demystify the process of scientific publication.

Scientific articles are the primary form of communication between researchers, but they are often written in technical language that is only understandable by specialists in the field. They are also usually behind journals with paywalls making them difficult to access by anyone outside of the academe.

This is where Data for the People (D4P) comes in: a weekly, interactive web-series that invites ‘the people’ (all of our community members, worldwide!) to engage with relevant scientific research topics. These are presented by scientists in our communities — directly from the primary scientific literature — and explored in a way that maintains the rigor of the research, while eliminating the inaccessible jargon. Registration for each D4P event is free and open to anyone who is interested in attending. Anyone can sign up to the mailing list to receive updates for the next event.
