Free Palestine

As a science education nonprofit committed to love and science that includes everyone, we at Scientists Inc are deeply troubled by the grave and ongoing genocide being perpetrated in Gaza, a collective punishment enacted by Israel and funded by the US. As of the writing of this statement, the growing human toll of this aggression is staggering. More than 20,000 Palestinian people have been killed in a matter of weeks, 70% of them women and children. More than 576,000 Palestinians in Gaza face catastrophic hunger and starvation, and the 53,000 wounded have virtually no access to medical care. More than 1.7 million Palestinians have stood helpless as their homes were destroyed, and are now displaced.

We grieve with the families who know no end to suffering. For the loved ones lost. For the children who will never know what they’ll be when they grow up. For the entire family lines wiped off the face of the earth. For the centuries-old olive groves written about since antiquity that are gone. For the cities decimated. For the homes destroyed. For the seemingly endless horrors they face.

We grieve for the thousands illegally held captive in Israeli prisons: men, women and children. For the escalating aggression and death in the West Bank where 275 have been killed and 3,365 injured by Israeli occupying forces.

We grieve for the 68 journalists and their families who have been targeted and killed for showing us what is really happening to people on the ground.

And we grieve for the 1,200 Israelis killed on October 7, while acknowledging that was not the beginning. That was a symptom of the larger problem of apartheid and illegal Israeli expansion going on for generations that has systematically dehumanized and disenfranchised the Palestinians in the Gaza strip and the West Bank.

Our voices together can make a difference. Below are several ways you can contact the White House, President Biden, Vice President Harris, as well as your representatives to tell them:

We call for an immediate and permanent cease fire. We call for the end to apartheid. We call for a permanent peace and the end of Israeli aggression. And we demand that the US stop funding Israel’s war machine and stop financially supporting Israel’s apartheid state, that offers universal healthcare and robust social services to its preferred citizens - while US citizens (and Palestinians) do not have the same rights.
